Shivalik Cambridge College Hosts Workshop by Educart on Competency-Based Assessment and Classroom Management
On June 30th, 2025, Shivalik Cambridge College successfully conducted a 4-hour teacher training workshop on the topic “Competency-Based Assessment Aligning with Classroom Management.” The session was led by Mr. Deepak Sengar, an experienced trainer known for his practical insights into NEP-aligned pedagogical practices. The free workshop aimed at empowering teachers with strategies to evaluate students more effectively while maintaining a structured and engaging classroom environment.
The workshop saw the participation of the school’s enthusiastic teaching faculty, who were eager to deepen their understanding of how competency-based assessments can be integrated into daily classroom practices. The session emphasized how such assessments, when aligned with well-managed classroom practices, can foster student autonomy, critical thinking, and improved academic outcomes.
Mr. Sengar introduced teachers to several practical approaches that bridge the gap between assessment design and classroom behavior management. He shared how assessment doesn’t begin and end with exams, but is a continuous process that can be seamlessly woven into regular class interactions.
Key focus areas of the workshop included:
Designing learning outcomes aligned with student competencies
Strategies to manage classrooms while maintaining student engagement
Incorporating formative assessment tools for real-time feedback
Building a non-threatening environment for performance evaluation
Handling mixed-ability learners through differentiated instruction and fair assessment
Teachers found the session extremely relevant and relatable, especially as it connected policy-level shifts under NEP 2020 to day-to-day teaching realities.
Following the session, a discussion was held with Principal Mrs. Asha Kapoor, who appreciated the energy and depth of the training. She confirmed her intent to continue investing in teacher development, and shared plans for:
Organizing a career counselling session for senior students
Introducing a booklet-based learning and assessment activity for key subjects
Hosting paid training workshops for teachers in August or September, expanding on topics like differentiated learning, NEP integration, and reflective teaching
Her commitment reinforced the school’s mission to make continuous professional development a core part of academic growth.
This workshop served as a powerful reminder that effective teaching today is not just about delivering content, but about managing classrooms intelligently and assessing learners meaningfully. Teachers left the workshop with tools they could apply immediately—be it in lesson planning, student interactions, or formative assessments.
Educart extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Deepak Sengar for leading a truly insightful session and to Principal Mrs. Asha Kapoor and the entire team at Shivalik Cambridge College for fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and lifelong learning.
As classrooms evolve, workshops like these ensure that teachers remain confident, equipped, and inspired to lead learning in the most impactful way.
