44 Teachers Empowered at DAV Public School: Educart’s Mental Health & Wellness Workshop Highlights Teacher and Student Well-Being
New Delhi, August 23, 2025: In a timely step towards creating mentally healthy schools, DAV Public School, Delhi, in collaboration with Educart, organized a Teachers Training Workshop on “Mental Health and Wellness Among Students.” The free two-hour session was conducted by Ms. Isha Johri, a mental health and education specialist, and attended by 44 teachers who engaged wholeheartedly in reflective discussions, practical exercises, and open dialogue.
The session opened by addressing a powerful reality "Mental health is not an additional concern but a cornerstone of effective teaching and learning". Educators were reminded that student challenges such as academic pressure, exam-related anxiety, and social stressors are inseparable from academic performance. At the same time, the workshop emphasized that teacher wellness plays a decisive role in shaping classroom climate, making it essential for schools to prioritize both student and teacher well-being in equal measure.
Key Highlights of the Workshop
-
Teacher-Student Connection: Recognizing the strong link between teacher wellness and student outcomes.
-
Inclusive Classroom Culture: Strategies to create safe, welcoming, and emotionally supportive environments.
-
Practical Coping Tools: Stress-management, resilience-building, and stereotype-breaking approaches for everyday use.
-
Resource Awareness: Guidance on using Manodarpan, helplines, and toolkits for mental health support in schools.
-
Empowered Teaching: Teachers were encouraged to adopt wellness practices that reflect in their pedagogy and classroom relationships.
Throughout the workshop, Ms. Johri shared real-world examples of how small interventions such as mindful listening, positive reinforcement, and structured peer support can transform classrooms into spaces of trust, empathy, and resilience. She stressed that teachers must look beyond grades and discipline, focusing instead on nurturing holistic growth where children feel safe, valued, and motivated to thrive.
The interactive format allowed teachers to reflect on their own stressors, share classroom challenges openly, and explore collective solutions. Many participants highlighted that this was one of the first times they had been encouraged to view their own mental well-being as central to effective teaching, rather than secondary to academic results.
Voices from the School: A special note of gratitude was extended to Principal Ms. Sameeksha Sharma, who not only supported but also actively encouraged the initiative. She applauded her teaching community for their willingness to engage with such a critical subject and emphasized that building mentally healthy schools is a shared responsibility.
Teachers shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, noting that the workshop offered not just theoretical knowledge but also ready-to-implement strategies they could integrate immediately into their classrooms. From stress-management practices to ways of addressing student anxiety, the session left educators better equipped to handle the unseen pressures their students face daily.
The workshop concluded with a strong message: Mental health is central to learning, not an after thought By equipping teachers with the right mindset, tools, and resources, schools can create empowered classrooms where academic achievement goes hand-in-hand with emotional resilience.
With the active participation of 44 teachers and the unwavering support of the school leadership, the workshop marked a transformative step toward holistic education at DAV Public School. Educart reaffirmed its commitment to conducting such Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions, ensuring that teachers across India remain prepared to nurture not only knowledgeable students but also mentally strong and emotionally secure individuals.
