 The Karwa Chauth vrat is a crucial ritual of the festival. Here are some dos and don'ts you need to follow while observing the fast.

Observe a fast from sunrise to moonrise

The primary ritual of Karwa Chauth is fasting without food and water from sunrise to moonrise. 

Sargi

Sargi is a special thali that should be consumed as a pre-dawn meal before starting the fast. Make sure to include foods like stuffed roti, homemade sweets, fruits, nuts, and other items to keep you energised throughout the day.

Avoid using onion and garlic in your meals

Avoid the use of onion and garlic while preparing food for Karwa Chauth celebrations.

Have plenty of fluids before the fast begins

Drink as much water as you can before the fast begins. You can also have fresh fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid drinking coffee and tea to prevent acidity. 

Pregnant women should avoid fasting

Pregnant women should avoid keeping the Karwa Chauth fast as it can affect their health.
