Hunt for Amritpal : Police hold flag marches across Ludhiana, Khanna, appeal for peace

To maintain law and order situation in Ludhiana district, the police held flag marches on Tuesday in several areas in the wake of the manhunt launched by Punjab Police to arrest pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP, Khanna) Amneet Kondal checked the flag marches and checkpoints in Khanna.

The SSP interacted with the police personnel and paramilitary personnel and issued them directions. She asked the personnel to scan all the vehicles crossing from the town.

The SSP added that the police are continuously holding meetings with the locals and taking their feedback. The police also requested the public to help the police in maintaining peace in the town.

The SSP said that the police have also been keep tabs on social networking sites and will take action against the accused involved in spreading fake news and instigating people.

Ludhiana rural police led by senior police officials also held a flag march in Raikot on Tuesday.

Ludhiana rural senior superintendent of police (SSP) Navneet Singh Bains held a meeting with the peace committee seeking their support in maintaining the law and order situation.

The SSP said that the police is receiving support from locals.

The Ludhiana rural police had arrested a total of 21 people who were trying to disturb peace. The people assembled in Boparai Kalan village and tried to hold a protest against police action against Amritpal Singh.

Ludhiana police commissionerate held a massive checking at Ludhiana railway station and bus stand. Apart from this, the police personnel along with paramilitary forces have installed checkpoints at nearly 52 spots in the city.

Mandeep Singh Sidhu, commissioner of police, Ludhiana, said that the police are fully prepared to tackle any situation. The police are holding flag marches in different parts of the city to build confidence among locals.

On Monday, the police had arrested four persons, who were trying to instigate people to stage a protest and block roads against the police action against Amritpal Singh.
