Ludhiana civic body removes 100 encroachments from city markets
The drives were organised in Ghumar Mandi, Bhadaur House, the market near Clock Tower, Sandhu Nagar and the tire market near railway station, among other areas
Taking action against roadside encroachments, municipal corporation teams of all four zones removed over 100 encroachments in various city markets on Thursday.

The drives were organised in Ghumar Mandi, Bhadaur House, the market near Clock Tower, Sandhu Nagar and the tire market near railway station, among other areas.
MC teams, led by inspector Ajay, removed around these roadside encroachments as they resulted in bottlenecks and disturbed traffic movement in the respective areas.
MC secretary Tajinderpal Singh Panchhi said that the drive was conducted on account of the inconveniences caused to commuters by these encroachments and the traffic disruptions caused by them.
Illegal colony razed
MC teams demolished the structure of an unauthorised colony in Jaspal Bangar area on Thursday. As per civic body officials, construction at the colony site had restarted despite MC’s action against it in April.
Following complaints, the corporation razed the under-construction sewage pipes on Thursday morning.
MC assistant town planner Pardeep Sehgal said that no structures were established at the site and only sewer lines were installed. He added that timely action has been taken to ensure that rules and regulations are followed.
Sehgal appealed to the residents and colonisers to start construction only after getting the plans approved from the civic body. The construction should also be taken up as per the building bylaws and strict action will be taken against those flouting regulations.
