Rajya Sabha polls Highlights: In Maharashtra, BJP and MVA win three seats each

Elections to 57 seats in Rajya Sabha, spread across 15 states and Union territories, are slated to be held on June 10.

Rajya Sabha Election 2022 Live Updates: Voting was held on 16 Rajya Sabha seats across four states- Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka on Friday.  In Rajasthan, the Congress won three Rajya Sabha seats while the BJP could only win one. In Karnataka, the BJP won all the three seats it contested in while the Congress managed to win only one of the two seats to which it had fielded its candidates.

Counting was on hold in Haryana and Maharashtra and Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Friday that a BJP delegation met the Election Commission and asked that the elections in these two states should be declared null and void. 

However, counting began in Haryana early Saturday after the EC rejected the BJP's complaint seeking cancellation of votes of 2 Congress MLAs in the state.

The BJP's Krishan Lal Panwar and Independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma, backed by the saffron party , have won the two Rajya Sabha seats from Haryana.

In Maharashtra, where counting started too for the six seats, the BJP and the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) won three each.
