New Punjab CM met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Tuesday. Charanjit Singh Channi arrived in Delhi and met the home minister. This is Channi’s first visit to the Home Minister after assuming office as Punjab CM. Channi said he spoke to the Home Minister about farm laws and Lakhimpur Kheri violence. This comes amidst Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s arrest in Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka was detained on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet families of deceased farmers. Priyanka issued a statement saying she has not been allowed to meet legal counsel. She also alleged that police used illegal physical force on her. Earlier, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who recently quit as Punjab congress chief, said he stood with Priyanka. Sidhu spoke about Punjab congress organising a march towards Lakhimpur Kheri. Congress delegation, including Rahul Gandhi, will visit Lakhimpur Kheri on October 6. This comes after eight people, including four farmers, were killed in Lakhimpur Kheri.
