Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma-starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal didn’t do good business at the box office, and actor Chandan Roy Sanyal , who played the role of Gas in the Imtiaz Ali directorial, blames the early negative reviews for it. Admitting that he was quite affected by the failure of the film, he says, “It does bother me, simply because there were a lot of things at stake. The fact that people literally bad-mouthed the movie just two-three days after its release, led to the film’s poor performance. This bad-mouthing was the real reason, and it had a damaging impact on the film.”

Sanyal feels bad about the film’s performance because he had worked with the best, in the film. “ You know for some one like me, who is an outsider — I have limited options. So, working with a filmmaker like Imtiaz Ali, and stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka, was a rare chance for me. So, you pull all your energy and you give more than your best, because you don’t get a chance like this again. That’s why it feels bad, that the film, you worked so hard for, didn’t do well, and no one will even notice my performance in that,” he laments.

The 37-year-old actor, who will soon be seen in the Saif Ali Khan-starrer Chef, feels that people should “refrain” from voicing their opinion on social media right after watching the film. “It’s almost like someone has revealed the upcoming details of an episode of Game of Thrones. I mean you are spilling it out on the internet, and just like spoilers, people get affected by the reviews. I think people should, maybe, refrain themselves from voicing their opinions so early about a film, or maybe they should be less harsh about it,” he says.
