Disclosing this here on Wednesday, agriculture department director Mangal Singh Sandhu said Badal has issued order in this matter and directed the agriculture department, food and civil supplies department and other sister-concerns to disburse the stocked DAP fertiliser at old rates.

He said it has also been directed to initiate departmental or legal action against all companies/dealers/co-operative societies which are found selling fertilizers on higher rates to the farmers.

He said erring companies would be penalised under Fertilisers Control Act, 1985.

Sandhu also urged the farmers to verify the rates printed on the bags during purchase of fertilisers.
