Criminal wanted in cases of ATM, vehicle theft arrested in Delhi

The police, on Tuesday, arrested a 32-year-old criminal hailing from Tauru in Nuh, who is allegedly wanted in several cases of ATM thefts, carjacking from Rajiv Chowk, attempt to murder, robbery and dacoity. Police recovered master keys, three stolen motorbikes, magnetic chips, two key remotes and one mobile phone from the accused.

Assistant commissioner of police (crime) Shamsher Singh said, “Over the last four years, there has been an increase in number of vehicle thefts in the city. Sheru has stolen over 10 trucks, 10 cars, and more than 40 motorbikes from Faridabad, Delhi, Jaipur, and Gurugram in the last two year. We formed special teams to look into the matter. The crime team of Sector 31 caught Mohammad red-handed,” Singh said.

“He usually used a master key to open the doors of cars, which he bought from a Sohna resident identified as Azad. We are interrogating him about the magnetic chips. There is a possibility that he might have used them to open the locks of the newer motorcycle models,” Singh said, adding that he has been jailed more than 10 times.

Police said that Mohammad was earlier a close aide of Shahid Advani, one of the most wanted criminals of Nuh, but later started his own operation with four gang members. Mohammad’s arrest comes close three days after the arrest of his close aide from Sohna, who was also involved in more than a dozen cases and has confessed to 11 cases of robbery and dacoity.
