BS Bassi to be new chief of traffic police

Senior IPS officer Bhim Sain Bassi will join Delhi police as the special commissioner of police (traffic).

Senior IPS officer Bhim Sain Bassi will join Delhi police as the special commissioner of police (traffic).

On Monday, Tejendra Khanna, Delhi Lt-Governor approved his transfer from the post of director-general of Goa Police. Bassi is a 1977 batch India Police Service (IPS) officer of Union Territory cadre.

He had served with Delhi Police earlier.

He will retire from service in February 2016.

According to sources in the police headquarters, Bassi is likely to join work as special commissioner of police (traffic), on Tuesday.

Presently, the post is being held by Ajay Chadha, who is also special commissioner of police (administration).

Bassi, who was born on February 20, 1956, joined the IPS on July 12, 1977 and successfully served as special commissioner (vigilance), joint commissioner (southern range) and additional commissioner (northern range) of Delhi Police.
