A prisoner charged with murder prepared a fake court order to force policemen to allow him to have food cooked at his house, it has emerged.

The policeman in charge of the team escorting the prisoner detected his forgery and brought it to the notice of the
court.

The court asked the police to register a case against the prisoner and find out how he managed to prepare the fake order while in jail.

The court also directed the police to lodge a case of cheating and forgery against Sunil, the prisoner, in Prashant Vihar.

Sunil was arrested for Mangolpuri in 2011 in connection with an attempt to murder.

Police sources said assistant sub-inspector Phool Singh, in charge of the Rohini court complex lock-up, detected the fraud. He had received the court order directing the police to allow Sunil food prepared by his family.

"Escorting party head is directed to allow the applicant (Sunil) to have home cooked food on court hearing dates at Delhi and Haryana on medical grounds as applicant is suffering from variety of ailments demanding regular enriched diet," the court order read.

"The order seemed weird to Singh and he presented it before the additional sessions judge who had apparently put his sign on it," a police source said.

"The judge found that it was not his signature on the order copy and also the rubber stamp used was different from the original one. The court room number mentioned in the order copy was found incorrect. Sunil was also not an undertrial in any of the cases being heard in the court," the source said, adding a case has been registered against Sunil because he was the direct beneficiary of the order.

The court said fake stamps might be misused in the future. It directed the police to find the counterfeit rubber stamps of the court.
