Samajwadi Party senior leader Shivpal Yadav criticised his nephew and incumbent chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for the massive defeat that the party is staring at in the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. “Pride went before the fall (sic). This is not a defeat of the samajwadis but of arrogance and of those who removed Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav, from party’s post of national president) and humiliated me,” said Shivpal, who won from the Jaswant Nagar seat. The two have been on opposite sides of a bitter family feud since June 2016 over control of the party.
