29 armymen martyred, 142 militants killed at LoC since 2014: Govt in Rajya Sabha

The LoC, under the operational control of the army, also saw 216 cases of ceasefire violations until June this year.

The Indian Army lost 29 personnel along the Line of Control (LoC) and killed 142 militants since 2014, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Minister of state in the ministry of defence Subhash Bhamre, in a written reply, said 84 infiltration bids were also foiled by the security forces since 2014.

The LoC, under the operational control of the army, also saw 216 cases of ceasefire violations until June this year.

Of these 73 and 76 violations were recorded in May and June respectively, he said.

The LoC under the operational control of the Border Security Force (BSF) witnessed 23 cases of ceasefire violations.

Three civilians have also died due to cross-border firing by Pakistan.
