In two incidents, miscreants break into cars, steal laptops and cash

One of the victims, Vikrant Verma, a resident of Najafgarh in Delhi, told police that he, along with his friends, had gone to have lunch at one of the malls near Bristol Chowk Friday afternoon.

In two separate incidents, unidentified persons stole three laptops, ATM cards and cash worth over ₹3 lakh by breaking into two cars Friday, police said, adding that the vehicles were parked along with other cars in Sector 27 and Golf Course Road at the time of the incidents.

According to police, the thieves allegedly smashed the rear windows of these cars in the early hours of Friday and in the afternoon and fled with the laptop bags kept on the rear seats of the vehicles. After preliminary investigation, cases of theft were registered at the Sector 29 and DLF Phase 1 police stations.

One of the victims, Vikrant Verma, a resident of Najafgarh in Delhi, told police that he, along with his friends, had gone to have lunch at one of the malls near Bristol Chowk Friday afternoon. “Verma had parked the car in an unattended parking lot when unidentified men allegedly broke the glass windows and fled with the laptops. When he returned after an hour, he found the glass of the rear windows of both the cars broken. His friend had also left her wallet and laptop on the rear seat,” said Karan Goyal, assistant commissioner of police (DLF).

In the other incident, a Sector 27 resident’s bag was stolen from the rear seat of his car, parked opposite his house.

“I had parked my car outside my house and there were around 10 more cars parked on the stretch. When I woke up in the morning, I noticed the window glass broken and looked my bag, which was missing,” said Adutiya Satyam.

The act is captured on a CCTV camera and a copy of the footage was handed over to police.
