Two cheat Mumbai woman of Rs 81 lakh on pretext of selling flat

The MIDC police are on the lookout for two men who cheated a woman of Rs81 lakh on the pretext of selling her a flat in Andheri (East). The police said that the men are history sheeters.

According to the MIDC police, the complainant runs a business and is a resident of Dahisar. As per her allegations, the two men took a total of Rs81 lakh from her between September and October on the pretext of selling her a one BHK flat on Gurunivas Jijamata Road, Pump House, in Andheri (East).

The accused took Rs33 lakh in cash, and Rs48 lakh by RTGS transaction from the victim. The deal took place in Upadhyay Nagar in MIDC.

After they refused to return the money or hand over the flat’s possession, the woman approached the MIDC police and lodged an FIR under section 420, 406 and 34 for cheating and criminal breach of trust. The woman had got in touch with the men after reading an advertisement given by them on the internet.

A police official said, “The duo have a prior crime record and the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai police is also running an inquiry against them for cheating flat buyers. We are gathering evidence against them after which we will arrest them.”
