Two daughters of cheating case accused beat up police in Mumbai, arrested
When cops went in to check on accused, his wife, daughters, other family members beat them up.
Two women from Ambivli were arrested on Saturday for beating up the police, when went to arrest the accused, who was their father.
The NM Joshi Marg police, along with the Kalyan police had gone to arrest Javed Sarvar, an accused in a cheating crime committed in January, when the latter requested he be allowed to change his clothes inside the house. When the police went in to check on him, his daughters – Nadira Sarvar,22, and Fatima Sarvar,26, – their mother Jahida, and other family members beat them up. Javed’s wife, Javed and some other family members are absconding.
The NM Joshi Marg police, on Saturday night got a tip off that Javed was hiding in Ambivli, Kalyan. The other accused in the cheating case was Annu Sarvar.
With the help of the Kalyan police, they went to the accused’s house and caught him. While they were taking him to the police station, Javed asked the police to let him change his clothes.
“Javed fled through the bathroom window. When we called out for him, there was no response. When we were about to enter the house, Javed’s wife, daughters and other family members blocked our way and started beating us”, said a police officer from the Thane commissionerate.
Later, the police went back and arrested the two women. “We arrested Javed’s daughters. The Mumbai police, along with us are searching for Javed and Annu. We suspect that they have fled to their native place in Uttar Pradesh” added officer.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The women were sent to judicial custody.
