Stolen 10-seater toilet installed by PCMC found in chawl in Hinjewadi

The toilet was found by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) cleaners in Gujar chawl, where they were cleaning an overhead water tank, according to police.

The police have recovered a 10-seater mobile toilet which was stolen from Bhumkar chowk, in the Tathawade area over a month ago.

The toilet was found by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) cleaners in Gujar chawl, where they were cleaning an overhead water tank, according to police. The chawl is located a few kilometres away from Bhumkar chowk - the place from where the toilet was stolen.

The toilet was installed in 2017 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, an initiative of the central government.

The 10-seater mobile toilet was original installed by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Tathawade.

A case under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unidentified persons at the Hinjewadi police station. The police are yet to find the person(s) who stole the toilet.

The cost of the toilet is estimated to be ₹1,50,000 and is built of plastic and is blue in colour.
