Prakash Raj shared a video to deny that he has signed petition against Mohanlal.

Actor Prakash Raj has denied the reports that he signed a memorandum demanding that Mohanlal should not be invited as the chief guest at the upcoming Kerala State Film Awards. In reaction to Mohanlal-led Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) reinstating rape accused Dileep as its member, 107 people reportedly signed the memorandum. An IANS report stated that Prakash Raj was among them.

On Tuesday, the actor posted a video on Twitter to clarify that he has not signed the memorandum and he was not even aware of it. In the video, he said, “There is a news going around that I have signed a memorandum against Mohanlal ji attending the Kerala State Award functions, which is false. Nor have I signed any such memorandum, nor am I aware of such memorandum. Yes, I have my differences with the decision that AMMA has taken and I very clearly told my stance that I don’t accept it. It is insensitive to have taken such a decision.”

Cinematographer Santosh Thundiyil, another alleged signatory, also wrote on Facebook that he has not signed the petition. “How can somebody think of avoiding Mohanlal by writing a memorandum..isn’t it insane, foolish..? I have not signed or written any thing against Mohanlal attending the award ceremony. Its being projected like I had made a statement or signed a letter requesting to avoid him from a function(sic),” he said in his Facebook page.

After AMMA took the controversial decision to reinstate Dileep as a member, Mohanlal has been facing protests.

The Women In Cinema Collective requested for another emergency meeting after the decision while four actors including Rima Kallingal and Geetu Mohandas quit the film body to protest the decision. After the furore, Dileep announced that he will not be returning to AMMA until he is cleared of all charges.
