This news has come as a surprise to many fans of the game, who are eagerly anticipating what this new mode will entail. Although Fortnite's base battle royale mode was a huge success along with several crossovers, Epic Games has been exploring other avenues to keep the game fresh and engaging, such as the Creative and Zero Build modes.

The Creative mode was well-received by the community and allowed players to create and share their own maps.

The developers eventually released the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, also known as Creative 2.0, which improved upon the original Creative mode. Zero Build mode was introduced for players who did not enjoy the building aspect of the game, allowing them to play a battle royale match with weapons and mayhem. Now, it seems that a new major game mode might be coming to the popular creative battle royale in the form of a racing mode.

According to various community dataminers, there are several files within the Fortnite game files that led to a new car-racing mode codenamed "DelMar" which is in development and set to release within five months.

Notorious Twitter leakers, GMatrixGames and iFireMonkey suggested that the new mode will feature a customization garage accessible from the main game lobby, with various alternative vehicle styles and model options available.

“It’s been discovered that this mode will feature a Garage with vehicle customization, which can be accessed from the main Fortnite lobby,” the tweet from iFireMonkey read.

The DelMar mode is said to feature several game options, including Death Race and several circuits, and even a competitive game mode. The competitive mode will offer 18 divisions and rankings. It seems that the creators want to take this car racing game to the next level and create a strong foundation for the competitive scene.

Very little is known about the resources Epic is putting into this potential car-racing mode and whether it will affect the attention given to the standard competitive play. Some fans might be concerned that the studio is already focusing on hypothetical tournaments for a game mode that's not even out yet. However, it's still too early to tell how big the Fortnite car racing game will be and what impact it will have on the game's community.

Despite the enormous excitement around the new addition, many have criticized Fortnite’s ongoing evolution, claiming that the game has strayed too far from its original concept. Although, Epic Games has defended its continued innovation, arguing that it is necessary to keep the game fresh and engaging for players.

It remains to be seen how much of a competitive scene the new mode will establish and how well it will be welcomed by the community, but the possibilities are endless. Fortnite continues to evolve and surprise players, and this new car-racing game mode is just one example of that.
