Actor Saumya Tandon was in for a surprise recently. A die-hard fan of the actor visited her on the sets of her TV show, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! The fan, Dr Gayatri Rao, travelled from Hyderabad to Mumbai only to meet Saumya, and brought along gifts.

Turns out that Rao had been trying to get in touch with the actor for two years. “She had been messaging me on social media that she wants to write a biography on me. I’d think ‘What have I done in life to deserve a biography?’ I kept avoiding her,” says Saumya.

“But whenever I’d go on Facebook live video sessions, or other fan interactions, she’d always be there. Then I noticed her putting sketches and paintings of me on her account and tagging me. I thanked her like I’d thank any other fan,” adds the actor.

How did the fan finally realise her dream of meeting her favourite celebrity? “She somehow got the email addresses of my friends and husband, and would keep mailing them about her desire to write a book on me. She even sent a guy all the way with my sketches, and I told him to convey to her that it will take at least 15-20 years more for such a book,” says Saumya.

The actor adds, “[This time] she turned up with her father, and brought along an album of paintings. She had also written an entire book of poems about me. It was heartwarming to see a girl being inspired by me. She also told me that she makes a new painting every week! But I want to reach out to my fans and tell them that though such love is always welcome, this love shouldn’t turn into an obsession, like it once did with a guy. He would somehow get to know where I am, and post a picture of the location with the exact address.”
