Pillai takes over as Home secretary to fight militancy, Naxalism

India newly appointed home secretary Gopal Krishna Pillai said on Tuesday that a humane approach to reign in Maoist rebels and efforts to curb violence in Kashmir would top his agenda. Indian security forces are battling Maoist rebels mainly in the east and northeast.
