Mumbai: The Mumbai police filed a 711-page charge sheet in the Pratyusha Banerjee suicide abetment case against her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh on Wednesday. Singh, who has been provided interim relief from arrest, was charged with abetment of suicide, assault and criminal intimidation.

The police included the statements of Banerjee’s parents, her uncle, Dipankar, and his wife, Barnali. Barnali, told the police she saw the injuries Banerjee sustained on her thigh after a fight with Rahul, when the 24-year-old visited her Ambernath home in February.

Dipankar called Banerjee’s mother, Soma, and told her they were sending her back home. However, the actor stayed for two days.

Barnali added that Banerjee called her on March 31, a day before she committed suicide, complaining that life had become very difficult.Banerjee was found hanging on April 1 at her Goregaon apartment, which she shared with her boyfriend, an actor-producer.

Her parents had written to the chief minister, the state home minister and the police commissioner asking for a murder probe into the case when Singh was admitted to the hospital for depression. They demanded that the case be transferred to the crime branch as the local police station was ‘giving a free hand to the accused to destroy evidence.” However, the Bombay high court told them to let the Bangur Nagar police continue their investigation.

Singh was asked to appear before the court on July 30.
