22 made-in-Himachal drug samples fail quality test

The central drug control organisation had drawn samples from across the country in May. It found that 52 samples did not meet the standards, of which 22 were manufactured in Himachal. The state drug controlling authorities have asked the erring industries to call back the stocks of failed samples from the market.

Headmaster arrested for ‘molesting’ four minor students in Mandi

Station house officer, Jogindernagar, Ashwani, said that the accused was arrested after receiving a complaint on the helpline number. The teacher was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The complaint was made on child helpline number 1098.

Army foils infiltration bid along LoC in Uri

The army on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in north Kashmir. The encounter is in progress between the army and the infiltrators. Officials said that the army spotted a group of infiltrators in the vicinity of Basgrain village in Uri which later turned into an encounter. The army has named it Operation Bajrang.

This is the third encounter between forces and militants in north Kashmir since Monday in which three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed and two soldiers sustained injuries. (PTI File)

Track trouble: Train operations suspended on Kalka-Shimla line

In a statement, the Ambala railway division said, “Due to repair work in view of cavities formation near the bridge No. 800 at km 92/6-7 between Jutogh and Summer Hill railway stations, traffic movement on Kalka Shimla section has been suspended between Jutogh and Summer Hill.”
