Hooda slams Centre for increasing LPG prices again

He said that prices are high because the BJP-led Union government is collecting twice the tax compared to the Congress era

Former Haryana chief minister and leader of the Opposition (LoP), Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on Sunday accused the Union government of continuously robbing the public by repeatedly increasing the fuel and gas prices.

“The hike of ₹42 in commercial cylinders earlier and now the ₹29 increase in domestic gas cylinder prices is like rubbing salt on the wound. Domestic cylinder prices have risen by ₹89 in just three months. Similarly, commercial cylinder rates have seen an increase of over ₹1,500. There is also rampant profiteering on diesel, petrol, CNG, and smaller cylinders,” Hooda said in a statement.

“Petrol and diesel prices, which were ₹70 and ₹50–55 per litre respectively under the Congress government, have now crossed the ₹100 mark,” he said, adding that today, the common public is so distressed by inflation and they are forced to cut back on daily expenses.
