Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia on Monday staged a protest against Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan for not allocating her time to speak in the vidhan sabha, despite having sought permission repeatedly.

Addressing the media outside the assembly, the MLA said she wanted to raise an issue concerning the orders and maryada of the Akal Takht in the House, but despite repeatedly raising her hand, she was not allowed to speak.

Majithia said that whatever she had said in the House in recent days regarding the orders of the Akal Takht was expunged from the proceedings by the government. “I had submitted a notice to the Speaker against finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema, alleging that he had misled the House and violated its privileges,” Majithia said.

She said the government had approached the Akal Takht and promised to amend the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, and remove all objections, but was now running away from a discussion on the matter.
