In the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Sabarmati constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 99 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Sabarmati was one of them. The election for Sabarmati seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Arvidkumar Gandabhai Patel (DALAL) defeating Indian National Congress's Dr. Jitubhai Patel by a huge margin of 68,810 votes.
96.4% of votes were split between top 2 candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Arvidkumar Gandabhai Patel (DALAL) secured a total of 1,13,503 votes, while Indian National Congress's Dr. Jitubhai Patel got 44,693 votes. Independent candidate Valjibhai Odharbhai Desai grabbed 1,865 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 69.2%, 27.2% and 1.1% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Arvindkumar Gandalal Patel (ARVIND DALAL) beat Indian National Congress's Patel Bharatkumar Govindlal (BHARAT VAKIL) by 67,583 votes.
