In the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Visavadar constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Visavadar was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Ribadiya Harshadkumar Madhavajibhai won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Patel Kirit Balubhai by a margin of 23,101 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Ribadiya Harshadkumar Madhavajibhai got a total of 81,882 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Patel Kirit Balubhai secured 58,781 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Jagubhai Raningbhai Vank secured 2,588 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.3%, 39.7% and 1.7% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Gujarat Parivartan Party's Keshubhai Savdasbhai Patel beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Bhalala Kanubhai Mepabhai by 42,186 votes.
