Chhattisgarh Election: Somnath Assembly Constituency 2022
In the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Somnath constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Somnath was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Chudasama Vimalbhai Kanabhai won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Jashabhai Bhanabhai Barad by a margin of 20,450 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Chudasama Vimalbhai Kanabhai got a total of 94,914 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Jashabhai Bhanabhai Barad secured 74,464 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Shahmadar Hanifsha Remansha secured 1,612 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 54.4%, 42.7% and 0.9% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Barad Jasabhai Bhanabhai defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Jotva Rajsibhai Virabhai by 2,096 votes.
