In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 9 candidates in the fray from Kalol constituency. Kalol was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Baldevji Chanduji Thakor winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr.Atulbhai K. Patel by a margin of just 7,965 votes.
97.3% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Baldevji Chanduji Thakor got a total of 82,886 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr.Atulbhai K. Patel got 74,921 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Mahendrasheel Somabhai Upasak grabbed 1,183 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 51.1%, 46.2% and 0.7% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Thakor Baldevji Chanduji beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Atulbhai Kalidas Patel by 343 votes.
