In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 9 candidates in the fray from Kheralu constituency. Kheralu was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dabhi Bharatsinhji Shankarji won the election upstaging independent candidate Desai Mukeshkumar Moghjibhai by a margin of 21,415 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.3% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Dabhi Bharatsinhji Shankarji got a total of 59,847 votes, while independent candidate Desai Mukeshkumar Moghjibhai secured 38,432 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Thakor Ramjibhai Sonaji grabbed the third spot with 38,254 votes. The top three parties got 42.2%, 27.1% and 27.0% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Dhabhi Bharatsighji Sankarji outperformed Indian National Congress's Thakor Babuji Ujamji by 18,386 votes.
