Independent candidate Jigneshkumar Natvarlal Mevani won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Chakravarti Vijaykumar Harkhabhai by a margin of 19,696 votes.
The top two candidates split 93.2% of votes between them. Independent candidate Jigneshkumar Natvarlal Mevani got a total of 95,497 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Chakravarti Vijaykumar Harkhabhai secured 75,801 votes. Independent candidate Makwana Narendrakumar Pujabhai secured 3,711 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 52.0%, 41.3% and 2.0% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Manilal Jethabhai Vaghela outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Vaghela Fakirbhai Raghabhai by 21,839 votes.
