Karnataka Election: Hanur Assembly Constituency 2023

Hanur is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Chamarajanagar district. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Hanur will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.

Hanur assembly constituency had 2,04,859 electors in 2018, out of which 1,04,292 were male voters and 1,00,552 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.7% votes.

What happened last time

In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 15 candidates in the fray from Hanur constituency. Hanur was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's R Narendra winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Preethan Nagappa by a margin of just 3,513 votes.

The top three candidates split 96.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's R Narendra got a total of 60,444 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Dr. Preethan Nagappa secured 56,931 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Manjunath M R grabbed the third spot with 44,957 votes. The top three parties got 35.8%, 33.7% and 26.6% respectively.

In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's R.Narendra beat Janata Dal (Secular)'s Parimala Nagappa by 11,549 votes.
