Harihar is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Davanagere district. People of Harihar voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.

Harihar assembly constituency had 2,09,384 electors in 2018, out of which 1,04,436 were male voters and 1,04,947 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.

What happened last time

In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Harihar constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Harihar was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's S Ramappa winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Harish B.P. by a margin of just 7,260 votes.

The top three candidates split 97.9% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's S Ramappa got a total of 64,801 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Harish B.P. secured 57,541 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Shivashankar H.S. grabbed the third spot with 38,204 votes. The top three parties got 39.5%, 35.1% and 23.3% respectively.

In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Janata Dal (Secular)'s H.S. Shivashankar outperformed Indian National Congress's S.Ramappa by 19,053 votes.
