Hosadurga comes under the Chitradurga district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Hosadurga voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In 2018, the Hosadurga assembly seat had 1,85,334 registered voters, 94,883 were male and 90,449 were female voters. 0.7% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Hosadurga constituency. Hosadurga was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Gulihatti D Shekar won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's B G Govindappa by a margin of 25,992 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Gulihatti D Shekar got a total of 90,562 votes, while Indian National Congress's B G Govindappa secured 64,570 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Shashikumar secured 1,575 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 57.1%, 40.7% and 1.0% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's B.G. Govindappa beat independent candidate Gulihatti D. Shekar by 20,017 votes.
