Jagalur is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Davanagere district. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Jagalur will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Jagalur assembly constituency had 1,87,850 electors in 2018, out of which 95,362 were male voters and 92,478 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Jagalur constituency. Jagalur was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's S.V.Ramachandra won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's H.P.Rajesh by a margin of 29,221 votes.
The top two candidates split 87.2% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's S.V.Ramachandra got a total of 78,948 votes, while Indian National Congress's H.P.Rajesh secured 49,727 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Devendrappa.B secured 13,401 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 53.5%, 33.7% and 9.1% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's H.P.Rajesh outperformed Karnataka Jantha Paksha's S.V.Ramachandra by 36,890 votes.
