Kadur comes under the Chikmagalur district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Kadur voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In 2018, the Kadur assembly seat had 1,95,119 registered voters, 98,716 were male and 96,392 were female voters. 0.6% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Kadur constituency had 12 candidates for assembly seat contention. Kadur was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's K S Prakash won the election by upstaging Janata Dal (Secular)'s Y S V Datta by a margin of 15,372 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's K S Prakash got a total of 62,232 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s Y S V Datta secured 46,860 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate K S Anand grabbed the third spot with 46,142 votes. The top three parties got 39.2%, 29.5% and 29.1% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Janata Dal (Secular)'s Y.S.V.Datta outperformed Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Belli Prakash by 42,433 votes.
