Independent candidate Raju R Kalaghatagi grabbed 4,898 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 55.3%, 38.1% and 3.3% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Santhosh S Lad defeated Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Nimbannavar Channappa Mallappa by 45,661 votes.
