Karnataka Election: Molakalmuru Assembly Constituency 2023

Molakalmuru comes under the Chitradurga district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Molakalmuru voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.

Molakalmuru assembly constituency had 2,27,102 electors in 2018, out of which 1,15,156 were male voters and 1,11,938 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.6% votes.

What happened last time

In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 11 candidates in the fray from Molakalmuru constituency. Molakalmuru was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's B. Sreeramulu comfortably winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Dr B. Yogesh Babu by a huge margin of 42,045 votes.

The top three candidates split 87.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's B. Sreeramulu secured a total of 84,018 votes, while Indian National Congress's Dr B. Yogesh Babu got 41,973 votes. Independent candidate S. Thippeswamy bagged 41,152 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 43.9%, 22.0% and 21.5% respectively.

In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Badavara Shramikara Raitara Congress Party's S. Thippeswamy beat Indian National Congress's N. Y. Gopalakrishna by 7,169 votes.
