In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 4 candidates in the fray from Bayad constituency. Bayad was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Zala Dhavalsinh Narendrasinh won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Chauhan Adesinh Mansinh by a margin of 7,901 votes.

Indian National Congress's Zala Dhavalsinh Narendrasinh secured a total of 79,556 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Chauhan Adesinh Mansinh got 71,655 votes. Independent candidate Patel Babarbhai Mathurbhai grabbed 1,992 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 51.5%, 46.3% and 1.3% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Vaghela Mahendrasinh Shankersinh defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Jhala Udesinh Pujaji by 35,923 votes.
