In 2017, 7 candidates were contesting for Khedbrahma assembly constituency seat. Khedbrahma was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Kotwal Ashvinbhai Laxmanbhai won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramilaben Bara by a margin of 11,131 votes.
The top two candidates split 92.2% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Kotwal Ashvinbhai Laxmanbhai got a total of 85,916 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramilaben Bara secured 74,785 votes. Janata Dal (United)'s candidate Bipinchandra Rupasibhai Gameti secured 3,509 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.3%, 42.9% and 2.0% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Ashvin Kotwal beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Makwana Bhojabhai Hujabhai by 50,137 votes.
