In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 9 candidates in the fray from Dediapada constituency. Dediapada was one of 2 seats won by the Bhartiya Tribal Party. Bhartiya Tribal Party's Vasava Maheshbhai Chhotubhai won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Vasava Motilal Puniyabhai by a margin of 21,751 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.1% of votes between them. Bhartiya Tribal Party's Vasava Maheshbhai Chhotubhai got a total of 83,026 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Vasava Motilal Puniyabhai secured 61,275 votes. Indian New Congress Party's candidate Deshmukh Rajendrasinh Gumansinh secured 6,721 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 51.3%, 37.8% and 4.1% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Motilal Puniabhai Vasava defeated Indian National Congress's Amarsinh Ramsinh Vasava by 2,555 votes.
