It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janta Party's Reeta Devi winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Kamal Kishore by a margin of just 1,095 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Reeta Devi got a total of 29,213 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kamal Kishore secured 28,118 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sushil Kumar secured 952 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.4%, 47.5% and 1.6% respectively.
In Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Independent candidate Manohar Dhiman beat Indian National Congress's Kamal Kishor by 7,369 votes.
