Dharamshala is one of the 68 Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Kangra district. People of Dharamshala voted for Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on November 12 and the result was declared on December 8.
Dharamshala assembly constituency had 69,715 electors in 2017, out of which 36,018 were male voters and 33,697 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.8% votes.
In the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Dharamshala constituency had 12 candidates for assembly seat contention. Dharamshala was one of 44 seats won by the Bharatiya Janta Party. Bharatiya Janta Party's Kishan Kapoor won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Sudhir Sharma by a margin of 2,997 votes.
86.9% of votes were split between top 2 candidates. Bharatiya Janta Party's Kishan Kapoor secured a total of 26,050 votes, while Indian National Congress's Sudhir Sharma got 23,053 votes. Independent candidate Ravinder Rana grabbed 2,127 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 46.1%, 40.8% and 3.8% respectively.
In Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Sudhir Sharma beat Bharatiya Janta Party's Kishan Kapoor by 5,000 votes.
