In the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Umreth constituency had 8 candidates for assembly seat contention. Umreth was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Kapilaben Gopalsinh Chavda by a margin of just 1,883 votes.
The top three candidates split 98.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar got a total of 68,326 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kapilaben Gopalsinh Chavda secured 66,443 votes. Nationalist Congress Party's candidate Patel Jayantbhai Ramanbhai (BOSKEY) grabbed the third spot with 35,051 votes. The top three parties got 39.4%, 38.3% and 20.2% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Nationalist Congress Party's Jayantbhai Ramanbhai Patel (BOSKEY) beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar by 1,394 votes.
