In 2017, 14 candidates were contesting for Gandhidham assembly constituency seat. Gandhidham was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Maheshwari Malti Kishor won the election by defeating Indian National Congress's Kishor Gangjibhai Pingol by a margin of 20,270 votes.
94.1% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Maheshwari Malti Kishor got a total of 79,713 votes, while Indian National Congress's Kishor Gangjibhai Pingol got 59,443 votes. Bahujan Mukti Party's candidate Bhanjibhai Myajarbhai Dungariya grabbed 1,965 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 53.9%, 40.2% and 1.3% respectively.
In Gujarat Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Maheshwari Ramesh Vachchhraj defeated Indian National Congress's Chavada Jayshreeben Ajitbhai by 21,313 votes.
