Telangana Election 2022: Matar Assembly Seat

In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Matar constituency. Matar was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Kesarisinh Jesangbhai Solanki winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Patel Sanjaybhai Haribhai by a margin of just 2,406 votes.

The top two candidates split 97.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kesarisinh Jesangbhai Solanki got a total of 81,509 votes, while Indian National Congress's Patel Sanjaybhai Haribhai secured 79,103 votes. Independent candidate Vijaysinh Bhagvansinh Mahida secured 1,936 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.2%, 47.8% and 1.2% respectively.
