Meet Shloka Vaidialingam, a Delhi-based lawyer and Kuchipudi dancer who is juggling both with equal ease.

Who says it is difficult to pursue passion and profession at the same time? Meet Shloka Vaidialingam, a Delhi-based lawyer and Kuchipudi dancer who is juggling both with equal ease.

“Law and Kuchipudi are different streams but both are time-intensive and never-ending fields. You don’t get bored in either and they complement each other,” says Vaidialingam, who started learning the dance form when she was five. “I have grown up in a very supportive environment, and my gurus are quite strict in a way. All this helped me do better,” says Vaidialingam, who recently paid a tribute to her gurus, Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy at Parampara series in the Capital.

Her words indicate that there’s more to classical dance than just body movements. And indeed there is. “Kuchipudi is about expressions, emotions and acting. There are some emotions which I have learnt only with age. There is still a lot to learn.”
