The complainant, Deepmala Sirvaiya, 26, who holds an MBA degree, told police the couple Manoj Parihar and his wife, Sunita, had promised her that they would get her government job. She said the couple told her that a particular minister would clear the file of appointment if she brings a few more candidates.

Deepmala knew Sunita when both were studying and they lived in a rented accomodation. When Deepmala met Sunita recently, the latter had told her she had got married and her husband was personal assistant with a minister and hence in position to get her job. Deepmala got some of her friends to meet the couple. In all, around Rs 18 lakh was paid. However, later when they asked them about their jobs, the couple began dilly-dallying.
