In Bhopal, the district administration officials raided six suppliers of pulses late night on Saturday after state government imposed control order on pulses in Madhya Pradesh due to spiraling prices.

The team seized 2100 quintal pulses from a mill and 18.10 quintal pulses from a mart.

In-charge district food controller Vivek Saxena said, “After Madhya Pradesh Essential Commodities Trade Stock Limit and Restriction of Hoarding order 2015, we have raided at six places. At two places, we found pulses more than limit. We have seized the pulses.”

The state government has fixed that wholesalers can stock pulses up to 2000 quintals in cities with over 10 lakh population. The order came after skyrocketing price of pulses. In Bhopal, Tuar dal is being sold at Rs 197/kg.

However, on other side traders have registered their protest against the order. Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) state president Vivek Sahu said, “This order will promote inspector raj in the state. The prices have increased nation-wide and it’s not a local problem. Now, traders will have to face trouble. The condition of trade will deteriorate.”
